World’s Best Chocolate Chip Cookies
Growing up my mom, sister and myself would make cookies every Sunday after church. Mom would put out the butter before we left and it would be all nice and soft when we got home.
This was before Kitchenaids took over the world and sister and I would take turns using a fork to mix the ingredients. And of course sneak some dough when mom wasn’t looking.
So after hearing a ton of great things about this NY Times cookie recipe I decided I needed to give it a shot. It’s definitely more complicated than the one I’m used to making on the back of the chocolate chip package, but it was oh so worth the hassle.
The main differences: you use a mixture of bread flour and cake flour and need to refrigerate the dough for 36 hours. Yes, it’s tedious and time consuming but give it a shot. Your coworkers will thank you.

Kitchen Mini-Makeover
I realize I’ve never actually shown you our kitchen, and that’s mostly because it’s a tiny nook in the corner of our living room. Hubs and I actually prefer the nook in the corner over our old kitchen which was a galley down the hall on the other side of the apartment.
I mainly like it because I can bake, watch tv and have air conditioning all at one time. It’s the small things.
So when hubs and I got a burst of inspiration to take on a couple DIY projects, painting the outer wall of our kitchen was one of them.

The paint job definitely helps define the one big room into two separate spaces.
We actually ended up using the paint that we bought for our last apartment so this paint job cost us all of $5 for a roll of painter’s tape. The difference is only oh so subtle, but I think it helps make our cookie cutter apartment just a little bit more custom.
(PS. I’ve been meaning to change out that fabric on the island and possibly give it a paint job, but it’s not currently at the top of my priority list. White wine currently occupies that spot.)

Last Week in iPhone Photos

I’ll go ahead and chalk last week up as a good one. I aged another year and felt the love coming at my from every direction. My coworkers decorated my desk, got me flowers and my favorite treats and then took me out for drinks. My husband followed me around the city agreeing to my 400 photo ops. Who wouldn’t feel like a million bucks after all that love?
